In the world of luxury yachts, Maximus stands out as a symbol of innovation and engineering excellence. Designed by the renowned Argentinian naval architect German Frers, whose previous projects include the sailing yachts Rebecca and Hyperion, Maximus was constructed by the prestigious Vitters Shipyard. Launched in 2023, this sleek and elegant yacht redefines modern sailing experiences, combining cutting-edge technology with luxury craftsmanship. Known for their best in class sailing yachts, Vitters and Frers have once again demonstrated their unmatched expertise with the creation of Maximus, displaying a blend of innovative design, superior materials, and state-of-the-art technology.

Design & Aesthetics

Maximus boasts a striking 59 meter or approximately 200ft design, with a powerful all black ketch rig, square top sails and exterior lines crafted to evoke a sense of power, elegance, and fluidity on the water. A powered crow’s nest elevator provides spectacular views from high up the main mast. Maximus features a sleek profile and classic lines that prioritize both timeless aesthetic beauty and optimal sailing performance.

Performance & Technology

As expected from Vitters, Maximus is not just about looks. Built for high-performance sailing, the yacht is equipped with advanced technology that optimizes her speed and manoeuvrability. The use of hydraulic systems and computerized sail controls ensures smooth handling even in challenging conditions. Performance sailing features include a lifting keel with a maximum draught of eight metres, and twin rudders. Maximus’ lifting keel allows for greater access to shallow waters when cruising, which adds to the yacht’s versatility, making it capable of both deep-ocean racing adventures and coastal sailing. Maximus strikes a balance between luxury accommodation and raw sailing performance that few yachts can achieve.

In September, the record for the Palma-Ibiza route in the 2024 Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta was set by Maximus, which won the event’s Perpetual Trophy for completion of the 48 nautical mile passage in 3 hours and 31 minutes; averaging over 14 knots and smashing the previous record, set in 2022 of 7 hours and 5 minutes. Maximus’ rigging is also at the cutting edge, utilizing modern materials to create an efficient and robust system. The carbon masts and furling booms are meticulously engineered to enhance performance, allowing for seamless transitions between cruising and racing modes.

Interior & Luxury

While Maximus excels in performance, it does not compromise on luxury. The interior, with design and furnishings by Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, building on a legacy of inspirational interior concepts by David Easton, offers a timelessly elegant classic aesthetic with the warmth and elegance of a high-end yacht. Natural light floods the spaces, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

The materials used in the interior reflect the yacht’s premium build, featuring handcrafted woodwork, high-quality fabrics, and bespoke furniture. The living areas are designed for both relaxation and entertainment, with spacious lounges, state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, and comfortable, well-appointed cabins. Artwork, sculpture and, notably, a grand piano by Steinway, which is installed in the main salon, give Maximus’ interior an extraordinary personality and make the yacht a unique setting for entertainment, parties and events.

The master suite exemplifies the luxury onboard Maximus. It is fitted with large, panoramic windows and features a king-size bed, dual individual en-suite master bathrooms with marble surfaces, rose quartz and lapis lazuli detailing and a luxurious steam shower.

A secondary cockpit with direct access from master suite to the deck provides comfort and privacy. Additional guest cabins are equally well-appointed, with every detail considered to enhance the comfort of those on board.

Sustainability & Innovation

Maximus also reflects an increasing focus on sustainability within the yachting industry. While it harnesses advanced technology for performance, it also incorporates eco-friendly practices, such as quiet and energy-efficient peak shaving battery systems and reduced emissions, wherever possible. The yacht’s power systems are designed with low environmental impact in mind, without sacrificing the high levels of performance that Vitters yachts are known for.
