From Hollywood to the French Riviera: Tom Cruise Shines Bright at Cannes Film Festival 2025

The 78ᵗʰ edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 13–24, 2025) was a spectacular celebration of cinema, drawing over 15,000 industry professionals and showcasing a carefully curated selection of 22 films in the main competition. Amidst the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera, the festival honored exceptional talent: the coveted Palme d’Or went to Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi for It Was Just an Accident, the Grand Prix was awarded to Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, and the Jury Prize was shared by Oliver Laxe’s Sirât and Mascha Schilinski’s Sound of Falling. Kleber Mendonça Filho received Best Director for The Secret Agent, which also earned Wagner Moura Best Actor, while Nadia Melliti won Best Actress for The Little Sister. Leading the jury, Juliette Binoche emphasized the festival’s dedication to artistic excellence, balancing red carpet glamour with recognition of groundbreaking filmmaking from around the world.

The 2025 edition of Cannes Film Festival offered all the glitz, glamour — and big-name firepower — one expects of cinema’s greatest red-carpet spectacle. But this year, it was also Tom Cruise who walked the Croisette with a timeless, commanding presence, proving once more why he remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons.

Tom Cruise: Classic, Magnetic, Unforgettable

Striding up the steps of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes on May 14 for the premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Cruise delivered a masterclass in old-school Hollywood charm. Dressed in a tailor-made black three-piece suit — crisp white shirt, fitted waistcoat, blazer with structured shoulders, straight-fit trousers — he looked every inch the legend. His signature aviator sunglasses and polished lace-up shoes added the finishing touch.

Fans and photographers couldn’t look away: Cruise greeted admirers, signed autographs, and posed for portraits — his energy undiminished, his star power as potent as ever. Finally, when the lights dimmed and the screening began, “The Final Reckoning” earned a five-minute standing ovation — a testament not just to the film, but to Cruise’s enduring draw.

Who Else Stole the Spotlight — Red Carpet A-List at Cannes 2025

The Riviera was alive with stars, and here are some of the top names who walked the red carpet alongside Cruise and lit up Cannes in their own unforgettable ways:

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie made a stunning comeback to the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, marking her first appearance there in over a decade. She walked the red carpet for the Eddington premiere in a shimmering strapless Brunello Cucinelli gown — an elegant, embroidered creation that perfectly captured her timeless glamour. With minimal makeup, diamond accents, and her signature poise, Jolie instantly became one of the most talked-about stars of the festival. She also appeared as the “godmother” of the Trophée Chopard ceremony, further cementing her place as one of Cannes 2025’s most memorable presences.

Cate Blanchett

Cate once again proved why she’s a perennial red carpet queen. For the 2025 festival, she wore a custom gown by Louis Vuitton — a measured, elegant choice that stood out for its sophistication, especially under the stricter dress code rules.  Even at the closing ceremony, she maintained her signature grace: understated makeup, sleek “wet-hair” styling and a discerning eye for refined fashion.

Scarlett graced the Cannes red carpet for the premiere of A Private Life (Vie Privée), wearing a strapless chiffon gown by Prada — a romantic, ethereal dusty-blue creation that floated elegantly across the red carpet.  Her look — complete with dewy makeup, red lips, and a polished up-do — made her one of the most talked-about arrivals of the festival.

Natalie showed up at the premiere of Eddington wearing a stunning customised gown from Dior — a couture piece inspired by the brand’s 1951 “Mexique” design.  Her polished silhouette and classic elegance made her one of the festival’s standout style icons of 2025, blending old-Hollywood glamour with modern refinement.

The supermodel delivered one of the boldest looks of Cannes 2025, stepping onto the red carpet in a black Saint Laurent gown featuring sleek satin fabric, dramatic side cut-outs, an open crisscross back, and a high slit. She paired the look with striking 118-carat emerald Chopard earrings, a diamond ring, and rhinestone-studded heels. Her new honey-blonde hair and minimal makeup completed a look that set social media ablaze.

Elsa turned heads in a bold archival look — she wore a dramatic ensemble from Thierry Mugler’s 1995 collection, which she paired with a velvet-satin coat and statement jewellery.  It was a daring, sensual look with nods to high-fashion history — and it definitely earned its place among the festival’s best-dressed.

Cara made a striking appearance at the premiere of The History of Sound. Irina was one of the supermodels singled out by fashion critics at Cannes 2025. For one of her appearances she donned a vintage haute-couture gown by Yves Saint Laurent (fall 1988 collection), embracing retro glamour to perfection.  Her return to the Cannes red carpet this year — after earlier years of more provocative looks — was marked by sophistication and respect for the festival’s updated dress code.

Miss Europe Switzerland Queenissima Dazzles with Eco-Chic Look at Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet.

In a dazzling fusion of creativity, courage, and unique fashion DNA, Queenissima — Miss Europe Switzerland and avant-garde sustainable fashion artist and rising brand — lit up the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, redefining elegance and environmentalism in one bold stroke.

Arriving amidst the usual sea of couture and flashbulbs, Queenissima instantly captivated the crowd in a show-stopping ensemble that was anything but conventional. Her polka-dot masterpiece, a handcrafted creation made entirely from upcycled fabrics, paid playful homage to pin-up fashion while sending a powerful message about conscious consumption. The black-and-white polka-dot dress, perfectly cinched at the waist, featured her signature multi-layered polka-dot collar and tie — an ironic twist that blended protocol-chic with retro glam.

But it was her accessories that truly made the statement: expressive white and red polka-dot gloves and a petite red hat perched atop her golden locks, completing a meticulously styled visual confection. Sleek black high heels finished the look, proving that sustainability and sophistication can not only coexist — but also command the spotlight on the world’s most glamorous red carpet.

Paparazzi lenses snapped feverishly as Queenissima radiated joy, confidence, and purpose, her signature smile as unmistakable as her mission: to use fashion not only as a form of expression but as a call to action. “Red carpets are not just for glamour,” she later told reporters. “They are platforms. And I’m here to show that sustainable fashion can be just as powerful — and far more meaningful.”

Queenissima’s presence at Cannes marks a milestone for the sustainable fashion movement. As Miss Europe Switzerland, she is not only a beauty queen but a visionary, blending art with activism, and style with sustainability. Her dedication to ethical design — frequently incorporating reclaimed materials, non-toxic dyes, and zero-waste techniques — has earned her a devoted following among eco-conscious fans who admire her unique style.

At Cannes Film Festival known for its luxury and excess, Queenissima’s striking appearance stood out as one of the most recognized and avant-garde looks on the red carpet.
